Queens Supreme Court judge has Dismissed a Lawsuit Against the Operators of Forest Hills Stadium

QUEENS NY – A Queens Supreme Court judge has dismissed a lawsuit against the operators of Forest Hills Stadium, allowing concerts to continue as planned. The lawsuit, filed by Concerned Citizens of Forest Hills Inc., sought to stop the concerts due to noise complaints from nearby residents. However, the judge ruled that the plaintiffs failed to demonstrate that the noise impacted only them, rather than the broader community.

Despite claims that the stadium’s noise levels exceeded city regulations and disrupted the neighborhood, the court found the private nuisance claim insufficient. The judge noted that the group lacked standing, as their alleged harm was not unique compared to the rest of the community.

The lawsuit faced significant opposition, with over 25,000 supporters signing a petition in favor of the stadium, highlighting its cultural and economic benefits. Local businesses also backed the venue, emphasizing the positive impact of concertgoers on the area.

The stadium’s operators, who have invested heavily in noise mitigation, welcomed the ruling and remain committed to preserving the venue as a cultural icon. They are optimistic about overcoming any future legal challenges.

Forest Hills Stadium, a historic site since 1923, continues to be a popular concert destination, drawing thousands of music fans and contributing to the vibrancy of the community. While this lawsuit has been dismissed, other legal challenges remain pending, but the operators are confident in their ability to defend the stadium’s right to host events.

Looking ahead, Forest Hills Stadium has a full lineup of concerts planned for the 2024 season. The venue, known for attracting top artists from various genres, is expected to announce a diverse mix of performers in the coming months. Fans can anticipate a strong concert season, with the stadium continuing to serve as one of New York City’s premier outdoor music venues.
