New York, NY – FBI agents searched the residences of three high-ranking officials in New York City Mayor Eric Adams’ administration earlier this week as part of an ongoing investigation, according to sources familiar with the situation.

The searches, which took place on Wednesday, targeted the homes of Phillip Banks, Deputy Mayor for Public Safety; Sheena Wright, the city’s First Deputy Mayor; and Timothy Pearson, a former NYPD official who advises the mayor on public safety matters. Electronic devices were reportedly seized from Banks and Wright, according to an anonymous source who was not authorized to speak publicly.

The FBI and spokespeople for Mayor Adams have not issued any statements regarding the searches. Phillip Banks’ attorney, Benjamin Brafman, confirmed the search but declined further comment.

This latest development adds to the growing legal scrutiny surrounding Mayor Adams’ administration. Federal authorities had previously seized the mayor’s devices in November and raided the home of one of his top fundraisers. While Mayor Adams, a former NYPD captain and first-term Democrat, has denied involvement in illegal activity, he acknowledged last month that federal prosecutors had subpoenaed him.

Timothy Pearson, one of the officials whose home was searched, is currently embroiled in multiple lawsuits, including allegations of sexual harassment by former female employees and a separate inquiry into his involvement in a physical altercation at a homeless migrant shelter. His attorney did not respond to requests for comment regarding the harassment claims.

Meanwhile, Phillip Banks was previously named as an “unindicted co-conspirator” in a police bribery case under former Mayor Bill de Blasio’s administration, leading to his abrupt retirement in 2014. However, he returned to city government when Mayor Adams took office in 2022.

Another top official, Sheena Wright, lives with her partner, David Banks, who serves as the city’s schools chancellor and is Phillip Banks’ brother. It is unclear if investigators are also seeking records related to David Banks.

The city’s Law Department has declined to comment on the situation.
