Georgia Election Workers Move to Seize Giuliani’s Assets Following Bankruptcy Dismissal
THE MIDTOWN TIMES—Two Georgia election workers, Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, are pressing forward to collect nearly $150 million from Rudy Giuliani following a defamation judgment in their favor. The mother-daughter team, which successfully sued Giuliani over his false claims about the 2020 election, is now asking a judge to compel the former Trump attorney to surrender his luxury properties and other valuable assets.
In a court filing on Friday, Freeman and Moss requested that the judge issue an order requiring Giuliani to hand over his assets, including real estate, furniture, a television, sports memorabilia, and several watches. The filing also seeks permission for them to take control of any property Giuliani fails to turn over and sell to satisfy the judgment.
The filing argues that these measures are strongly supported by New York law, particularly given Giuliani’s history of non-compliance with court orders. “These remedies are overwhelmingly justified under New York law,” the document states, emphasizing Giuliani’s consistent refusal to meet the obligations imposed by the court voluntarily.
Among the assets Freeman and Moss are targeting are a 1980 Mercedes-Benz, various pieces of furniture, a signed Joe DiMaggio shirt, three Yankee World Series rings, and 26 watches.
Freeman and Moss have pursued Giuliani’s assets since they secured the defamation judgment in December. However, their efforts were stalled when Giuliani filed for bankruptcy shortly after the verdict. Giuliani, who is appealing the judgment, was accused during the bankruptcy proceedings of providing false and misleading information about his assets to avoid payment.
Bankruptcy Judge Sean Lane dismissed Giuliani’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy earlier this month, citing the attorney’s lack of cooperation. This dismissal has cleared the way for Freeman and Moss to seek enforcement of the judgment by seizing Giuliani’s assets.
