Following Biden’s endorsement, the Biden campaign rebranded as “Harris for President.” By Monday night, Harris had raised an impressive $100 million from over 1.1 million donors and enlisted 58,000 new volunteers. During a call to campaign headquarters, Biden urged his former staffers to support Harris and prevent Donald Trump’s return to the White House.

“The name at the top of the ticket has changed, but our mission remains the same,” Biden said. “Trump continues to pose a threat to our community and nation.”

Harris secured enough delegate pledges by late Monday, confirmed by an Associated Press survey. Harris expressed her commitment to uniting the party and defeating Trump in November.

“I am proud to have the support to become our party’s nominee and honored that my home state of California played a key role,” Harris stated.

Democratic leaders have outlined a process to finalize the nomination by August 7, avoiding an in-person contested convention due to ballot access deadlines, potential GOP legal challenges, and the time needed to select a vice-presidential candidate.

In Wilmington, Harris highlighted her experience as a prosecutor. He criticized Trump, mentioning her history of tackling various offenders, including those who “abused women, defrauded consumers, and broke rules for personal gain.”

“I recognize Donald Trump’s type,” Harris said, referencing Trump’s ongoing legal battles and conviction on 34 felony counts in a New York hush-money case. “I will proudly contrast my record with his in this campaign.”

Meanwhile, at rallies in Ohio and Virginia, Trump’s running mate, Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance, attacked Harris’s patriotism, echoing a tactic previously used against former first lady Michelle Obama, aiming to resonate with the conservative base.
