10 Injured in Baton Rouge Mall Shooting; Suspects Still on the Run

Date:

BATON ROUGE, La. — Authorities are searching for multiple suspects after a shooting at the Mall of Louisiana left at least 10 people injured Thursday afternoon, marking another act of gun violence in the state.

According to the Baton Rouge Police Department, the incident unfolded around 1:22 p.m. near the mall’s food court. Investigators say the violence stemmed from a confrontation between two groups that escalated into gunfire.

Police Chief Thomas Morse Jr. told reporters that the shooting appears to have been targeted, but several bystanders were caught in the chaos.

“Unfortunately, innocent individuals who were nearby were also injured,” Morse said.

At least 10 victims were transported to local hospitals, some by emergency responders and others by private vehicles. Officials have not yet released details about the severity of the injuries.

As of Thursday afternoon, no arrests had been made, and authorities confirmed the suspects remain at large. However, police stated the situation is no longer considered an active shooter threat.

Jeff Landry acknowledged the incident, offering prayers for the victims and praising the swift response from law enforcement.

The shooting comes just days after another tragic incident roughly 250 miles away in Shreveport, where eight children were killed earlier this week in a separate act of violence.

This remains a developing story. The Midtown Times will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
