Cristiano Ronaldo could reportedly receive an ownership stake in the Saudi club under a possible acquisition plan

RedBird Capital Partners founder Gerry Cardinale has confirmed that preliminary discussions have taken place regarding a possible acquisition of Saudi Arabian soccer club Al Nassr.
Cardinale told Italy’s Gazzetta dello Sport that he had been approached about examining the opportunity, although negotiations remain at an early stage. He noted that RedBird conducts significant business across the Middle East.
Reports suggest Cristiano Ronaldo could become a minority owner of Al Nassr if a RedBird-led takeover moves forward. The Portuguese star, now 41, has played for the Saudi Pro League club since 2023, and his current contract is set to expire in June 2027.
Cardinale said he would be interested in meeting Ronaldo to learn more about the player’s plans after retirement and whether he hopes to remain involved with Al Nassr in an executive or ownership capacity.
Any potential deal would expand RedBird’s international soccer portfolio. The investment firm acquired an 85% controlling interest in French club Toulouse FC in 2020 before purchasing Italian powerhouse AC Milan in 2022.
Cardinale said he remains open to evaluating additional multiclub ownership opportunities while continuing to oversee RedBird’s existing investments in Toulouse and Milan.
No agreement involving Al Nassr has been announced, and the possible terms and timetable remain unclear.
