Music – Rapper Offset is recovering after being shot Monday evening outside a casino in South Florida, according to his representative, who confirmed the artist is in stable condition.
The incident occurred shortly after 7 p.m. in a valet area outside the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. Authorities say the shooting stemmed from an altercation that escalated into violence. The injured individual—believed to be Offset—was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital, where police indicated the injuries were not life-threatening.
Offset, born Kiari Kendrell Cephus, is widely known both for his solo career and as a member of the influential rap group Migos. He was previously married to Cardi B, with whom he shares three children.
Arrest Made, Investigation Ongoing
The Seminole Police Department confirmed that one individual, identified as Tione Jayden Merritt, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct in connection with the incident. He was booked into Broward County Jail late Monday night.
Officials emphasized that the situation has been contained.
“The site is secure and there is no threat to the public,” police said in a statement. “Operations continue as normal.”
Authorities also noted that the investigation remains active as they work to determine whether additional individuals were involved.
Rumors Addressed, No Charges Filed Against Others
In the aftermath of the shooting, speculation circulated on social media regarding possible involvement of rapper Lil Tjay. However, attorney Dawn M. Florio publicly denied those claims, stating that her client had not been shot and had not been charged in connection with the incident.
Florio reiterated that any reports linking Lil Tjay to the shooting are false, and urged the public to rely on verified information.
A Career Marked by Success and Tragedy
Offset rose to prominence as part of Migos alongside Quavo and Takeoff. The trio gained national attention with their 2013 breakout hit “Versace” and later achieved major success with their Grammy-nominated album Culture.
The group’s trajectory was forever altered in 2022 following the fatal shooting of Takeoff during an incident at a private party in Houston. The tragedy led to the group’s disbandment and marked a deeply painful chapter in Offset’s personal and professional life.
